HARRISBURG – Today, Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) responded to Gov. Tom Wolf’s budget proposal with the following statement:

“I look forward to working with the House Appropriations Committee, my colleagues and the governor to ensure that a fiscally responsible budget is passed and that it will prove beneficial to all Pennsylvanians.”

“While the governor expressed his vision of the state with no tax increases, he again is pushing for a budget that will cost almost 1 billion more than last year’s proposal,” Warner said. “Pennsylvania cannot afford to keep spending an exorbitant amount of taxpayer money. We need to reign in our spending and only allocate funds our taxpayers can afford.

“What also struck me was that nowhere in the governor’s budget address did he mention the crisis affecting firefighters and EMS workers. These men and women work tirelessly to keep our communities safe and continue to struggle under limited state funds that they receive. Our first responders provide crucial services to the residents of the Commonwealth and must continue to be a top priority for the General Assembly.
