– Senior citizens and people with disabilities who quality for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate program are invited to take part in one of several upcoming events hosted by Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) to provide free assistance in properly filing for the rebate.
“We want to make sure everyone who qualifies for this assistance receives it in a timely manner,” Warner said. “While applicants are welcome to stop by my office for help any day during regular business hours, we are also offering assistance in other locations to make it more convenient for our residents.”
The Property Tax/Rent Rebate assistance events are scheduled as follows:
• Connellsville Senior Center: Tuesday, Feb. 25, and Thursday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is located at 100 E. Fayette St., Connellsville
• Scottdale Public Library: Thursday, Feb. 27, and Tuesday, March 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is located at 106 Spring St., Scottdale
• Saltlick Township Municipal Building: Tuesday, April 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The township building is located at 147 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft
Residents are reminded to bring all necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims quickly and accurately. No appointments are necessary.
The program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with disabilities. Eligibility income limits are set at $15,000 for renters and $35,000 for homeowners, excluding 50 percent of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits. Also, applicants with veterans disability benefits and/or pensions do not need to declare that income.
