Several Fayette and Westmoreland Career and Technical Schools Receive State Grants, Says Warner
11/30/2018
HARRISBURG – Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) says various career and technical schools throughout Fayette and Westmoreland counties will receive funds through state grants provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).

“This funding is a great example of the investments that the state is currently making in career and technical education here in the Commonwealth,” said Warner. “These grants are in addition to the $30 million that was allocated to career and technical education in this year’s budget. I hope to see Pennsylvania continue to invest in this important and necessary educational option.”

Below is the list of the grant recipients from Fayette and Westmoreland counties:

Fayette County
  • Fayette County Career and Technical Institute was awarded a combined $32,048 to purchase equipment for its heating, air conditioning and refrigeration and automotive mechanics technology programs.
Westmoreland County

  • Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center was awarded a combined $15,089 to purchase equipment for its automobile and automotive mechanic program.
  • Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center was awarded a combined $22,702 to purchase equipment for its welding technology, machine tool technology and cabinetmaking and millwork programs.
  • Northern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center was awarded $2,000 to purchase equipment for its cyber security and networking program.
A total of $1.2 million in competitive grants from PDE was awarded to 38 career and technical centers and area vocational technical education schools across the state for the purchase of new equipment aligned to training students in high-demand occupations.
