CONNELLSVILLE – Applications for the 2023 Property Tax/Rent Rebate program are now being accepted, and Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette) is reminding area residents that free assistance is available through his office.
“We want to ensure everyone who is eligible for the rebates receives them to help offset the cost of their rent or property taxes,” Warner said. “These events will make it even easier for people get help closer to home.”
Due to a new law passed last year, more Pennsylvania seniors and people with disabilities are eligible for rebates this year. The income eligibility limit increased to $45,000 annually for both homeowners and renters. Applicants are reminded to exclude 50% of Social Security when calculating income. The law also increased the maximum rebate to $1,000.
In addition to offering assistance at the Connellsville and Perryopolis legislative offices, Warner has also scheduled a series of Property Tax/Rent Rebate assistance events across the area. The schedule is as follows:
• Thursday, March 14: Connellsville Senior Center, 100 E. Fayette St., Connellsville, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, March 19: Everson Fire Hall, 114 Jones St., Everson, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Thursday, March 21: Bullskin Senior Center, 52 Medsger Road, Connellsville, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Monday, April 1: Springfield Township Volunteer Hose Company, 755 Mill Run Road, Mill Run, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 2: Ohiopyle Park Office, 124 Main St., Ohiopyle, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 3: Franklin Township Office, 353 Town Country Road, Vanderbilt, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Thursday, April 4: Normalville Fire Hall, 3387 Springfield Pike, Normalville, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Friday, April 5: Belle Vernon Center on The Hill, 100 Summit Road, Belle Vernon, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 9: Washington Township Office, 1390-A Fayette Ave., Belle Vernon, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 10: Brownsville Borough, 325 Market St., Brownsville, 1-3 p.m.
• Thursday, April 11: Ohiopyle Park Office, 124 Main St., Ohiopyle, 2-4 p.m.
• Friday, April 12: Brownsville Borough, 325 Market St., Brownsville, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 17: Brownsville Borough, 325 Market St., Brownsville, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program benefits eligible residents 65 years and older; widows and widowers 50 years and older; and people with disabilities 18 years and older.
Those who wish to apply for assistance are reminded to bring the following documentation to allow claims to be processed:
• Renters will need a 2023 PA Rent Certificate, completed by their landlord, or statement from HUD office; 2023 proof of income, such as Social Security/Disability Form 1099, employment W-2, Pension/Retirement Form 1099 and Interest/Dividends Form 1099; and a driver’s license or photo identification. Some may also need to bring a death certificate, life lease or deed.

Applicants who wish to receive their rebates through direct deposit should bring a check for account information. If not, paper checks will be mailed. Disbursements should begin after July 1.
