UNIONTOWN – In order to discuss the challenges facing local government officials, Reps. Matt Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) and Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) will conduct two sessions on Friday, Aug. 11, at 8 a.m. for township supervisors and at noon for city and borough officials. Both sessions will be held at Dowling’s district office in Suite 200 of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce Building, 65 W. Main St., Uniontown.

“Keeping open lines of communication with our local officials is vital if state government is to be successful,” said Dowling. “Especially in these difficult times, it is imperative that we all work together for the stability and success of our region. I welcome this opportunity to bring our officials together for a good review and conversation.”

Dowling said the state budget, local and state codes, and other issues will be a part of the meetings that will feature Robert Gaertner, executive director for the House Local Government Committee, and Richard Vilello, deputy secretary for community affairs for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

“Local government plays a critical role to providing important services to residents,” Warner said. “By bringing together municipal officials, we can better identify ways the state can assist local government to address common problems and concerns. State government should not create barriers. I look forward to this discussion.”
Other state and county officials have been invited.

For more information, contact Dowling’s district office at (724) 438-6100, or Warner’s district office at 724-437-1105.
