“These championship titles were the first in school history for each sport,” Warner said. “As a Frazier alumnus, I am very proud of these athletes whose hard work, drive and perseverance earned them the titles. Thayne has now won two WPIAL championships and a state title. His future is very bright. The softball team also is not resting on its laurels and has been working hard to get ready for the spring season.”
Lawrence, who is a sophomore, won the 2018 PIAA Class AA 152-pound state title this past weekend. He also is the 2018 WPIAL champion and runner-up for the 2018 PIAA Class AA Southwest Regional Tournament in the 152-pound weight class. He finished this season with a record of 30 wins and two losses. Last year, Lawrence not only won the WPIAL Class AA title in the 138-pound weight class, but he also placed second in the 2017 PIAA Class AA Southwestern Regional Tournament and third at the 2017 PIAA Class AA State Championship. He amassed a record of 37 wins and six losses last season.
Last year, the Frazier High School Softball Team beat South Side Beaver by a score of 2-0 for the WPIAL Class AA title. The team lost a heartbreaker to Chartiers Houston High School in the state PIAA Class AA quarterfinal game.
