Assistance Provided for Tornado Victims
On Thursday, Feb. 15, severe weather, including a tornado, hit the Uniontown area. Almost immediately I joined my colleagues in local and state governments, along with nonprofits, in working to help the victims.
We convened a Fayette County Volunteers Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) meeting and then participated in a multi-agency resource center for tornado disaster victims at Fayette County Community Action. My office, along with Rep. Matt Dowling and Sen. Pat Stefano, assisted with state issues. Also participating were representatives from Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, the county tax assessment office, the county veterans affairs office, the county behavioral health administration, and animal response representatives. Every time disaster strikes our community, the outpouring of support is always overwhelming. It is heartening to know we are always available for each other in times of need.
If you still need state assistance due to this weather event, please contact my office at 724-437-1105.
