Time is Running Out! Perryopolis Concealed Carry Coming Up April 4
It’s not too late to sign up for the last of my spring Concealed Carry events coming up on Thursday, April 4, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at our Perryopolis Satellite Office, located at the Perryopolis Borough Building, 312 E. Independence St.
Once again, we are working with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to assist Fayette County residents who are unable to get to the sheriff’s office during regular business hours to obtain or renew their gun permits. Please note a valid photo ID and $20 cash is required for permits.
The event will also feature information about Pennsylvania’s concealed carry laws and the Castle Doctrine.

Smart Driving Seminars Offered for Area Seniors
Seniors age 55 and older who want to enhance their driving skills and save at least 5 percent on their auto insurance bills are invited to attend one of two upcoming Smart Driving Seminars.
Seminars are scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Friday, April 12, and Friday, May 17, at the Connellsville Senior Center, 100 E. Fayette St., Connellsville. The cost to attend is $16 per student.
To attend the April 12 seminar, RSVP by April 8 by calling my office at 724-437-1105 or visiting RepWarner.com. RSVPs for the May 17 course should be made by May 13.

Federal Government Assistance Day April 16

More Than $200,000 in Grants Awarded to Area Fire, Ambulance Companies
Emergency response organizations in the 52nd Legislative District have been awarded $205,543 in grants from the Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.
Our fire and ambulance personnel give so much of their time and put their lives on the line to help keep us safe. These grants are a small way to recognize their hard work and help with the rising costs they face for things such as training, equipment and building updates.
Funding for the grants comes from an ongoing program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.

#GoodJobs4PA Focuses on Career and Technical Education, Workforce Development
House Republicans are focusing on good jobs and careers for all Pennsylvanians by enhancing workforce development and career and technical education (CTE) opportunities, and advancing policies to help transition people from minimum wage jobs to family-sustaining careers.
Throughout the month of March, we worked on a bipartisan package of bills aimed at achieving these goals.
To help students plot their path to success, we advanced measure that would allow technical schools to recruit students like colleges do; make it easier for students to see where credits transfer; create a database of workforce development programs at secondary and post-secondary institutions; create an online career resource center; and allow students who complete classes in STEM education to apply the credits to a course through a vocational-technical school, technical institution or vocational school.
The package would also help improve business and education partnerships by creating a CTE investment incentive program, requiring CTE programs to establish advisory committees and having at least once administrator from a CTE center on each of the state’s Workforce Development Boards.

Holding Public Officials and Employees to a Higher Standard
The House this week gave overwhelming approval to a bill that would ensure public officials or employees who commit felony crimes related to their jobs will not collect a taxpayer-funded pension.
Senate Bill 113 would expand the types of convictions that require officials or employees to forfeit their pensions to include any felony conviction, guilty plea or no contest plea related to an official’s job.
The measure would also put a stop to the practice of a person pleading guilty to lesser crimes to avoid losing their pension and closes several other loopholes that have been exploited by officials to continue to collect pensions from the state after breaking the law and violating the public trust.
The bill is now awaiting the governor’s signature.

Honored to Chair House Subcommittee on Energy
I am honored to have been appointed chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy under the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai.
Ensuring we maximize Pennsylvania’s domestic energy potential has always been a top priority for me and to many in the 52nd Legislative District. I look forward to advancing policies that enhance our energy production to benefit both our citizens and the economy overall.
The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is responsible for legislative oversight of 45 different environmental laws in place in the Commonwealth, administered by both the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). The committee addresses legislation involving clean air, land and water; radioactive and other waste disposal; recycling; and more.
Also this session, I am serving on the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Appropriations, Game and Fisheries, and Gaming Oversight committees, as well as chairing the legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus.
