HARRISBURG – Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland), chairman of the Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, today announced Fayette County has been awarded a grant of up to $26,000 to aid in the replacement of the dock at Dunlap Creek Lake.
“We have always valued the great outdoors here in Fayette County, but more people than ever are now taking advantage of the many recreational opportunities available to them in and along our waterways,” Warner said. “This grant will help support replacement of the deteriorated wooden docks on Dunlap Creek Lake.”
Fayette County has a long-term lease with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) for the 49.9-acre Dunlap Creek Lake in Menallen Township. The county will use funding from PFBC to replace the existing wooden boat docks with new EZ-Dock heavy polyethylene docks. The new docks will be wider, include a kayak launch and will be ADA compliant.
Fayette County is providing a cash match of $26,600 and in-kind match of $4,100. The Fayette County Conservation District is providing technical expertise and township workers will assist with the removal of the old docks. This is the only boat launch facility on Dunlap Creek Lake.
