HARRISBURG – Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette) issued this statement following House passage of a $47.6 billion state budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year:
“Once again, the governor and House Democrats are ignoring the most basic rule of budgeting…you can’t spend more than you bring in. This budget spends $3.3 billion MORE than we anticipate collecting in revenue over the next 12 months.
“As a result, it takes a huge chunk out of the state’s reserve funds, which will quickly be depleted, and then will drain the Rainy Day Fund as well – a fund set aside specifically to protect taxpayers against economic downturn.
“What does this gross fiscal irresponsibility mean for you and your family, friends, neighbors and employers? HIGHER TAXES.
“The hard-working men and women of this Commonwealth deserve better.”
