Warner Announces State Grants for Fayette County Community Projects

FAYETTE COUNTY - Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette) today announced nearly $1.8 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to support road and sidewalk improvements, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, municipal equipment, emergency response, and other critical community projects across Fayette County.

Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues under Act 71 of 2004 and are used to support economic development, community improvement and other projects that enhance the quality of life for Pennsylvania residents.

“These investments will make a real difference in communities across Fayette County,” said Warner. “Whether it is repairing roads, upgrading wastewater systems, improving emergency response or giving our municipalities the equipment they need, these grants are helping address important local needs and strengthening the services our residents rely on every day.”

The approved Fayette County projects include:

• Belle Vernon Borough - $250,000 to purchase a street sweeper and dump truck. The new equipment will help the borough maintain streets and stormwater infrastructure, remove snow, maintain parks and perform other municipal work more efficiently.

• Brownsville Borough - $150,000 to mill and repave seven streets, including Ruth, Rebecca, Mill and Wall streets and portions of Orchard, Pearl and Clover streets. The improvements will address safety concerns, improve accessibility and help combat blight in the community.

• Dawson Borough - $80,175 to replace a collapsed storm pipe on Laughlin Street. The project will restore proper drainage, direct stormwater to the river and eliminate roadway flooding.

• Dunbar Borough Township Sanitary Authority - $78,196 to install flow meters and a bioxide system at its wastewater treatment facilities. The improvements will enhance monitoring, reduce odors and corrosion, and support reliable and cost-effective sewer treatment.

• Fayette City Borough - $225,000 to upgrade equipment at its wastewater treatment plant. The project will improve grit removal, disinfection and aeration as the borough works to address improvements required under a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection consent order.

• Fayette County - $64,500 to purchase an emergency management vehicle for the Hazardous Materials Response Team. The vehicle will support hazardous materials mitigation, technical rescue, community protection missions and transportation during emergency incidents throughout the county.

• Jefferson Township - $167,000 to purchase a wheel loader. The equipment will allow the township to load maintenance vehicles more efficiently and respond more quickly to local needs.

• Luzerne Township Sewage Authority - $73,512 to install SCADA units at four locations. The systems will allow operators to remotely monitor pump stations and the treatment plant, helping them identify problems and respond to emergencies more quickly.

• Ohiopyle Borough - $189,673 to rehabilitate Sheridan Street and Grant Street, along with related sidewalks and six ADA crosswalks. The project will improve public safety and accessibility in an area near the borough’s popular water activities.

• Perryopolis Area Joint Authority - $105,531 to replace three aging sludge pumps at its wastewater treatment plant. The upgrades will improve efficiency and capacity, reduce maintenance issues and minimize the potential environmental impact of leaks and equipment failures.

• Pleasant Valley Water Authority - $119,230 to purchase a telehandler for use in Bullskin Township. The equipment will reduce the authority’s reliance on rentals and help it complete routine maintenance, waterline installations and other system work more efficiently.

• Upper Tyrone Township - $139,235 to purchase a new municipal vehicle equipped with a dump body, spreader and plow. The vehicle will replace an aging truck used for street maintenance and snow removal.

• Vanderbilt Borough - $125,000 to replace sidewalks on Walnut Street and portions of Center and Church streets. The project will improve pedestrian safety and accessibility through new sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, crosswalk striping and drainage improvements.
